Custom Label Project
FC Málaga City Academy
Established in 2013, FC Málaga City Academy has quickly gained recognition as one of the world’s leading private residential football academies. Located in Spain, the academy regularly competes against some of Europe’s top clubs, offering talented footballers the chance to experience the life of a full-time professional.

As the academy's success and the level of its players continue to grow, FC Málaga City Academy now proudly represents players from over 40 countries across 6 continents, featuring some of the best unsigned talents outside the professional game.

The Academy was looking for a partner to create unique bespoke labelled bottles for corporate gifting opportunities and Spirits Sourcery was happy to accept the challenge. Fortunately, we work with one of the best graphic designers and digital minds in their industry so we knew we could deliver something unique and truly world-class. Follow the steps below on how we collaborated as a team, taking an idea and creating something very special.
Step One
Understanding the brief
We met with the founder and Academy Director, George Jermy, to gain an understanding of the important elements to him and the business. The idea had to incorporate the logo but be clever and eye-catching at the same time. It needed to reflect the premium nature of the business and of course the wine itself had to be excellent
Step Two
Select the wine
Receiving something you enjoy and want to drink is key. Spirits Sourcery wouldn't be happy unless the client was. The first wine was rejected as it didn't meet the flavour profile the Academy was looking for. Not a problem. Through our extensive producer network we found a delicious Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Tempranillo, Syrah and Petit Verdot blend produced by one of Spain's best producers, from the excellent 2021 vintage.
Step Three
Design Iterations
This was a process of refinement where a number of concepts were worked up with elements evolving until all parties were in consensus that the brief had been met and exceeded. "La Prorroga" (Extra time in Spanish) was chosen as it tied together football and time to relax with a glass of wine.
Step Four
Label creation and bottling
Spirits Sourcery always takes ownership of the whole process, liaising directly with the winery and ensuring their printer delivers the quality we require. We were there when the labels were added, and inspected each bottle to make sure there were no imperfections.
Step Five
The final product
So here it is...Not many wine labels pop like this one! We used special textured paper to add to the luxurious feel and the addition of the club logo required additional tooling at the print works. The wine cap colour matched the red in the logo tying the whole look together. This was a real labour of love, but it was worth the effort to make something so special...and it tastes amazing!
